Militants killed a total of ten soldiers between Hoshab and Turbat in Kech district (Balochistan province) and near Gurbaz (North Waziristan district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province) on Friday, July 26, and Saturday, July 27, respectively. No group immediately claimed responsibility for Friday's ambush in Balochistan province; Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for Saturday's attack on a patrol in North Waziristan district.
Similar attacks targeting security forces are to be expected in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces over the near term.
Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Al-Qai'da, Islamic State (IS) affiliates, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, Afghan Taliban, and other Islamist militant groups continue to pose a threat throughout the country despite continued army offensives to push them from their strongholds near the Afghan border. Pakistan has suffered numerous deadly attacks in recent months, notably in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
Individuals in the affected areas are advised to remain vigilant for militant activity, report suspicious objects and behavior to the police, and adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
