Thousands of people participated in a protest march through downtown Bucharest on Saturday, July 27, denouncing authorities' alleged slow response to emergency calls from a 15-year-old girl who claimed to have been kidnapped and is now presumed to have been murdered. Related, smaller protests reportedly took place in other Romanian cities. A suspect has been detained in connection with the case.
