As of 07:45 (local time) on Saturday, August 3, the Indian Meteorological Department issued extremely heavy rainfall warnings for several areas in Maharashtra state including Mumbai, Karnataka, Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra for August 3, through Sunday, August 4. The heavy rainfall and consequent flooding has caused at least one death and one serious injury following infrastructural damages, including a roof collapsing.
Ongoing road diversions are also causing significant traffic. Transportation disruptions including to train and bus services are expected in the coming hours and days. Flight delays at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Internatinal Airport (BOM) are also possible.
Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions and flight reservations before setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult
