Another round of ballistic missile tests was conducted by the North Korean military during the early morning hours (local time) of Saturday, August 10. According to South Korean officials, two suspected short-range missiles were fired off the coast of the northeastern city of Hamhung. The missiles flew 400 km (250 mi) before landing in the sea between Japan and the Korean peninsula. North Korea’s official news agency also reported that leader Kim Jong-un personally oversaw the test.

Similar North Korean launches are possible over the coming days.  


The August 10 launch is the fifth short-range ballistic missile launch by North Korea over a two-week period. 


Individuals in the region are advised to monitor developments and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
