Operators of the East Coast Main Line have announced maintenance works are expected to affect several of its rail routes over the bank holiday weekend from Saturday, August 24, through Monday, August 26. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be no service between London King's Cross and Peterborough/Cambridge, London St Pancras and Cambridge, and Moorgate and Welwyn Garden City/Stevenage via Hertford North. The rest of the East Coast Main Line will be operating at a reduced service. Operators are advising customers not to travel to or from London via East Coast Main Line during the bank holiday weekend. On Monday, maintenance works will continue at Newark, though there will be a reduced service available.
Consequent transportation disruptions, including delays and cancelations are expected, as well as an increased demand for alternative means of transport during the abovementioned dates.
Potentially impacted travelers are advised to monitor developments to the situation, to plan alternative routes, and to allow for extra time to reach their destinations for the duration of the maintenance words.
