The GMB Union announced on Thursday, August 8, that around 200 workers at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LPL) voted to strike during the upcoming bank holiday at the end of August. Strikes will take place from 04:00 to 20:00 (local time) on Thursday, August 22, Saturday, August 24, and Thursday, August 29. The workers voted for the industrial action to highlight health and safety concerns, as well as working practices and pay issues. As of Tuesday, August 13, negotiations are ongoing which may prevent the strikes from being carried out.
