Women activists are calling for nationwide protests against alleged cases of sexual abuse by police officers in the country on Friday, August 16. Protesters are expected to gather in the capital Mexico City, as well as in other urban centers, including Hermosillo, Aguascalientes, Monterrey, Culiacan, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Saltillo, Toluca, and San Cristobal de las Casas.

In Mexico City, protesters are set to gather at the Insurgentes roundabout at 18:30 (local time).

Associated transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence is likely in the vicinity of all protests.
