A bombing attack reportedly targeted a mosque in the Kuli Qasim area in Quetta on Friday, August 16, killing at least four people and wounding 20 others. According to local authorities, an improvised explosive device (IED) planted under the chair of the prayer leader detonated inside the mosque during the Friday prayer.

A heightened security presence is to be expected in the area over the coming hours. Similar attacks are possible over the near term.
