Severe thunderstorms have forced the cancelations of hundreds of flights at Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) on Sunday, August 18. Average arriving-flight delays of over 90 minutes have been reported at ORD and over 30 minutes at MDW as of 11:00 (local time), as well as average departing-flight delays of 130 minutes at ORD and 70 minutes at MDW, according to

Though the National Weather Service has discontinued previously active Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in the Chicago area as of 11:00, lingering flight delays and flight cancelations are to be expected at ORD and MDW over the coming hours.
