An armed individual has taken a bus and its passengers hostage on the Rio-Niterói Bridge in Rio de Janeiro State on Tuesday, August 20. The hostage situation was reported at 05:30 (local time) and the hostage taker identified himself as a military policeman, taking command of the vehicle. Several police officers are present on the bridge for security and to carry out a negotiation with the hostage taker. The number of hostages is unclear, though four people have been released.
