Police in Brisbane have closed George and Elizabeth streets as of 15:30 (local time) on Wednesday, August 21, following a traffic incident that occurred near the Queen Street Mall. Local media outlets have said that at least four people were injured after a vehicle hit pedestrians. Authorities have not said whether the incident was intentional.

Buses on George street near the incident are being diverted. Further transportation disruptions, including heavy traffic and delays, are expected in the coming hours. The Queensland Police have asked individuals to avoid the area.
