TIMEFRAME expected from 8/21/2019, 11:00 PM until 8/22/2019, 10:59 PM (Europe/Moscow). COUNTRY/REGION Krasnoyarsk

Activists demanding the resignation of Governor Alexander Uss, who they accuse of being corrupt, have called for a protest in Krasnoyarsk on Thursday, August 22. Participants plan to meet at 19:00 (local time) in Cosmonauts Square. Organizers have said that they expect at least 5000 people to attend the demonstration.

A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are expected in the vicinity of the protest.

Approximately 2000 people gathered on August 1 to demand the resignation of Governor Uss following his failure to efficiently extinguish regional forest fires, among other mismanagement issues. Protesters demanded that Uss resign within the week, which he refused to do.

Individuals in Krasnoyarsk Territory are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
