The Workers General Confederation of Peru (CGTP) is slated to hold a demonstration in Lima at 16:00 (local time) on Thursday, August 22. The group and its supporters are reportedly protesting the government's plans to grant a license for a project at the Tia Maria Mine in Islay province. Groups of demonstrators will gather in both Parque Kennedy (Miraflores district) and Plaza Dos de Mayo (Central Lima district), and then march to Parque El Olivar (San Isidro district).

A heightened security presence, along with significant traffic disruptions, are expected in the vicinity of all protest sites.
