UK-based British Airways pilots represented by the British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA) announced on Friday, August 23, a series of strike actions in September. The strikes are scheduled to take place on Monday, September 9, Tuesday, September 10, and Friday, September 27. BALPA confirmed the industrial actions after 93 percent of its members voted in favor of the strikes. According to the union, there is "no prospect of any further meaningful talks" as of August 23.
British Airways released a statement on Friday indicating that it is "likely that many of [its] customers will not be able to travel" on the abovementioned dates; the airline is offering to re-book and refund passengers booked on canceled flights.
Associated flight disruptions, including delays and cancelations, are to be expected during the strikes.
Potentially impacted travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport and to contact the airline for more information.
