Members of transportation unions in La Paz are scheduled to begin an indefinite strike on Tuesday, August 27, to protest the implementation of new routes and to demand amnesty for some of its affiliates.
A protest is also scheduled for the same date. Participants are to gather at 05:00 (local time) and later march towards the City Hall, beginning at 09:00 until about 15:00. Many streets will be blocked city-wide, particularly near the City Hall.
A heightened security presence and significant transportation disruptions are expected, as well as an increased demand for train and metro services.
Individuals in La Paz are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all demonstrations, and anticipate transportation and business disruptions.
