The Teachers and Secondary Education Association (APSE) and the Costa Rican National Educators' Association (ANDE) have called for a 48-hour nationwide strike on Monday, September 2, and Tuesday, September 3. Educators are to protest a retirement age increase and a decrease in pension pay, among other grievances. One protest will also take place on Monday, as of 14:00 (local time) at the Legislative Assembly in San José. Another is scheduled for Tuesday staring at 10:00, also at the Legislative Assembly.
Localized transportation disruptions are to be expected in the vicinity of the protests.
Individuals in Costa Rica, and particularly San José are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid related protests and demonstrations as a precaution, prepare for associated disruptions, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
