Heavy rain, which has hit the capital Dakar between August 30-31 has caused significant disruptions across the capital as of Monday, September 2, including traffic disruptions (blocked roads, accidents, etc.), along with raising fear of health issues (cholera, malaria, etc.).

Heavy rains are expected to continue over the coming days. Associated disruptions, including transportation disruptions, are likely in affected areas. Power outages are also possible.

Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports, avoid areas directly affected by flooding, confirm road conditions and flight reservations before setting out, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Avoid walking or driving through floodwaters; 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult.
