Recovery efforts are ongoing as of 08:12 (local time) on Tuesday, September 3, after a lorry caught fire around 03:50 on the M6 Northbound highway. Road authorities have shut the highway from Junction 14 (Stafford) to Junction 16 (Stoke-on-Trent). Diversions have been put in place and motorists from the south heading northwest are being advised to use the M1 or M62.

Associated traffic disruptions, including longer travel times, are expected to continue in the coming hours. Authorities are advising motorists to plan ahead and expect disruptions of up to an hour.
