Women's rights activists have called for protests to take place in Cape Town on Wednesday, September 4, to denounce gender-based violence. One protest in scheduled to take place from 09:00 (local time) in front of the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), where the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Africa is taking place until Friday, September 6. Another protest is scheduled to take place in front of the Parliament starting at 09:00.

A heightened security presence along with traffic disruptions are likely in the vicinity of the protests.  


Individuals in Cape Town are advised to anticipate traffic disruptions and avoid all public demonstrations as a precaution.
