Observed as a threat, the exercises have prompted a heightened alert for armed forces and military units in the area. A heightened security presence is to be expected at and near the Venezuela-Colombia border.
While travel to the border area is highly advised against, those planning on traveling through are advised to expect heightened security measures and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
