Event

Authorities have affirmed on Tuesday, September 3, that firefighting operations have continued for the ongoing forest fires throughout the Santa Cruz department. The Environment Emergency Cabinet also stated that while several fires have been extinguished, others persist as winds allow them to spread. They also stated that the fires of greatest intensity are found in Santa Teresita, San Ignacio de Velasco, ConcepciónSan Martin, Santa Rosa de la Roca, and San Javier, also accounting for where greatest firefighting efforts are.

Transportation and business disruptions are possible in the areas affected by the fires. Evacuation orders are not currently in effect but may be issued if the blazes continue to spread.

Advice

Individuals in Santa Cruz department are advised to monitor developments, exercise caution when traveling in areas near wildfires, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities (e.g. evacuation orders).
