Two Irish republican parades scheduled in Glasgow on September 7; heightened security presence planned

Two Irish republican parades are scheduled to take place in Glasgow on Saturday, September 7, amid a heightened security presence. The first will take place from Millroad Street to La Pasionaria monument on Clyde Street beginning at 13:30 (local time).

The second, hosted by the Friends of Irish Republican Prisoners Welfare Association, will begin from Blythswood Square and go towards Barrowland Park as of 15:00.

Police indicated that a heightened security presence will be implemented due to disorder and clashes by rival groups on Friday, August 30, during an Irish Unity March. Associated transportation disruptions are also to be expected.
