A military plane skidded off the runway at Yangon International Airport (RGN), forcing the airport to temporarily close the runway as of the morning (local time) of Thursday, September 5. All inbound flights to RGN have been suspended and outbound flights are reportedly experiencing delays. No casualties have been reported, and efforts to clear the runway are underway as of 23:00 on Thursday. Airport officials expect normal operations to resume at 02:00 on Friday, September 6, when the runway is set to reopen.

Flight disruptions, including delays and cancelations, are to be expected over the coming hours.
