Unions representing Alitalia flight personnel and airport ground staff are planning to hold countrywide 24-hour strikes on Monday, September 23, and on Wednesday, October 9. The work stoppages are due to begin at 00:01 and end at 23:59 (local time) on each day, and is expected to impact domestic and international flights and airport operations across the country.
Flight disruptions, including delays, modified timetables, and last-minute cancelations, are possible during the strike period.
Transportation-related strikes are frequent in Italy and can be highly disruptive. However, in accordance with Italian law, minimum levels of services must be guaranteed during all industrial and social actions.
Individuals traveling via airports in Italy are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport and anticipate flight and airport service disruptions.
