The second of a two-day British Airways pilot strike has begun with further cancellations on Tuesday, September 10. The industrial action began on Monday, September 9, and is scheduled to end late on Tuesday.

British Airways officials stated it was obligated to cancel nearly 100 percent of its flights over the two days due to little visibility as to which pilots would and would not strike, therefore unable to estimate which flights would be confirmed. The airline is offering to re-book and refund passengers booked on canceled flights.

As of Tuesday, no negotiations have been scheduled between pilots and airline officials, and another 24-hour strike is scheduled for Friday, September 27.

Associated flight disruptions, including delays and cancelations, are to be expected during the strikes.

British Airways and BALPA have been in a nine-month negotiation over pilots' pay and conditions. This is the first instance of a global strike by pilots. Both British Airways and BALPA have indicated that they are willing to begin new negotiations.

Potentially impacted travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport and to contact the airline for more information.
