Nicaragua will hold Independence Day celebrations nationwide on Saturday, September 14, and on Sunday, September 15, with the main ceremonies taking place in Managua. A student parade will take place on Saturday on Bolivar Avenue. On Sunday, a ceremony will be held at the Peace and Life Monument. Other events are planned throughout Managua during the weekend.

Road closures and transportation disruptions are to be expected in the capital throughout the weekend. Similar celebrations are likely to take place in major urban areas around the country.


Nicaragua is celebrating its 198th year of independence from Spain.
