Unions representing Alitalia flight personnel and airport ground staff have announced plans to shorten the duration of a countrywide strike scheduled on Monday, September 23. Participants are now planning to strike between 10:00 and 14:00 (local time) on Monday. They have also called for another countrywide strike on Wednesday, October 9, between 00:01 and at 23:59. The work stoppages are expected to impact domestic and international flights and airport operations across the country.

Flight disruptions, including delays, modified timetables, and last-minute cancelations, are possible during the strike period.

Transportation-related strikes are frequent in Italy and can be highly disruptive. However, in accordance with Italian law, minimum levels of services must be guaranteed during all industrial and social actions.

Individuals traveling via airports in Italy are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport and anticipate flight and airport service disruptions.
