Protesters looking to call attention to the economic crisis have blocked Rumichaca bridge in Ipales (Nariño) located at the Colombia-Ecuador border, on Tuesday, September 24, prompting its closure at 05:00 (local time). Closures are likely on Wednesday, September 25, as well as additional protests.

Associated transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are possible in the vicinity of the bridge. Spontaneous gatherings of other protesters are possible in the coming hours.  


Individuals in Nariño are advised to avoid all protests as a precaution, monitor the situation, allow ample travel time, and obey instructions issued by local authorities.
