Hundreds of people participated in a protest over perceived poor economic conditions in Beirut on Sunday, September 29, burning tires to obstruct roads in the capital. A related demonstration was notably held in Tripoli. Protesters also blocked highways elsewhere in Lebanon.

A heightened security presence and lingering transportation disruptions are to be expected in areas affected by protests over the coming hours. Similar demonstrations are possible in Lebanon over the near term.
