Significant delays have been reported on the South Coast Line on Friday, October 4, following a passenger incident at around 15:45 (local time) at the Fairy Meadow train station located in the south of Sydney. Approximately 300 passengers were evacuated from the station. Trains have resumed on the South Coast Line between Thirroul and Wollongong and the NSW Transport Management Centre (TMC) deployed additional buses to supplement service in both direction. Delays up to 30 minutes were still reported on the line at around 19:00.
Residual delays are likely on the South Coast Line in the coming hours, as well as an increased demand for alternative means of transportation.
Individuals in Sydney are advised to monitor developments to the situation, plan alternative routes, and allow for additional travel time.
