On Friday, October 4, the Met Office issued heavy rain warnings for Scotland and England from Saturday, October 5, through Sunday, October 6. The Office forecasts heavy rain during the night (local time) on Saturday in parts of Scotland, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Perth, before reaching northern and eastern England, including Leeds, Nottingham, and Canterbury, during Sunday. Between 1.5-3 cm (1 in) of rainfall is expected on Sunday, with up to 4-5 cm (2 in) of rainfall possible in isolated areas.
Weather officials have that the heavy rain may cause flooding, transport disruptions, and possible power outages in the affected areas on Sunday.
Individuals in areas forecast to be affected are advised to monitor local weather reports, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities, anticipate adverse weather and power and transportation disruptions, and remember that running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) is enough to knock over an adult - and never drive through flooded streets; floodwater may also contain wastewater and chemical products.
