An improvised explosive device (IED) detonated in Kabul's Deh Afghanan area (PD2), near the Kabul Serena Hotel, around 18:23 (local time) on Saturday, October 5. No casualties were immediately reported; no group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected around the incident area over the coming hours. Avoid the vicinity of the attack.
