Cleaning staff in several German airports are holding a 24-hour strike, which is likely to prompt flight delays on Tuesday, October 8. Staff seek to demand holiday bonuses and overtime payment, among other benefits. The strike began at 06:00 (local time), at Münster Osnabrück International Airport (FMO), Frankfurt International Airport (FRA), and Berlin Tegel Airport (TXL).

Similar protests under the name "Uprising of the Invisible" are also planned by staff at Munich Airport (MUC), Dusseldorf International Airport (DUS), Stuttgart Airport (STR), and Hanover Airport (HAJ). 

Flight delays are to be expected throughout the strike, until Wednesday, October 9, at 06:00, as flights are not allowed to take off before they are cleaned.  


Potentially impacted travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport and expect flight delays over the coming several hours.
