An improvised explosive device (IED) detonated on the Ghazni University campus in the southeast of Afghanistan on the morning (local time) of Tuesday, October 8, wounding 20 students. No fatalities were immediately reported. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

A heightened security presence and transportation disruptions are to be expected around the incident area over the coming hours. Avoid the vicinity of the attack. Similar attacks are to be expected in Ghazni province over the near term.
