Wildfires in California state have prompted evacuation orders for the Sanders Ranch neighborhood in Moraga County on Thursday, October 10. The Merrill Fire was first reported at 00:54 (local time) and has since burned through 60 acres (24 hectares) and has left 140 structures threatened.
Further spread of the fire remains possible in the coming several hours and days. A heightened security presence is to be expected in the vicinity of the wildfires and evacuation zones.
Power cuts have been implemented in 34 counties in California as of October 9 due to the risk of wildfire.
Individuals in the affected area are advised to monitor developments to the situation, adhere to instructions issued by local authorities (e.g. evacuation notices, road closures), and exercise caution when traveling near the wildfire. Children and those with respiratory illness are advised to limit outdoor activity.
