The Higher Arab Monitoring Committee is organizing further demonstrations throughout Israel on Tuesday, October 15, Monday, October 21, and Sunday, October 27, to demand greater action from the Israeli police to address violence targeting the Arab Israeli community. A rally on October 15 is scheduled to be held outside of the northern district police headquarters in Nazareth. Protesters will gather outside of the central district police headquarters in Ramle on October 21. Demonstrators are also expected to erect a tent city in Jerusalem on October 27 across from government offices.
Further protests may be held in the coming days and weeks. A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are anticipated around all demonstrations.
The Higher Arab Monitoring Committee has launched an associated nationwide strike on October 3 following the killing of two brothers in Majd al-Krum. According to monitoring organizations, 74 Arab Israelis have been killed in 2019 as of mid-October, a 20 percent increase from last year.
Individuals in Israel are advised to monitor developments to the situation, adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities, and anticipate transportation disruptions and heightened security measures.
