The Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) utility company in California state announced that power has been restored to most customers as of 21:00 (local time) on Friday, October 11. At last 97 percent of customers have power again after PG&E conducted blackouts due to an increased threat of wildfires. Almost 2 million people in northern and central California were without electricity during the cuts, which started on Wednesday, October 9. Similar measures are possible in the coming weeks if there is another significant wildfire threat.
Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor the situation, keep battery-operated devices fully charged whenever possible, and to be cautious when driving or crossing streets if traffic signals are not functioning.
