Extinction Rebellion (XR) activists are holding a protest at another location in Paris on Saturday, October 12, prompting a strong police presence. Participants have gathered near the Assemblée Nationale, creating roadblocks. Police have issued a warning to protesters asking them to peacefully leave the premises, otherwise force will be used to disperse the crowds.

Associated transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are to be expected over the next several hours. Clashes between protesters and police cannot be ruled out.

The Extinction Rebellion environmental group has organized disruptive protests around the world since November 2018 to demand increased action to address climate change issues. XR is organizing a series of international protests starting the week of Monday, October 7.

Individuals in Paris are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests and demonstrations, and expect transportation disruptions.
