The Pakistan People's Party (PPP) has called on Thursday, October 10, for month-long nationwide anti-government events from Friday, October 18, though Saturday, November 30. The events are set to begin in Karachi on October 18. Further protests are expected to take place in Tharparkar (Sindh) on Wednesday, October 23, in Kashmore (Sindh) on Saturday, October 26, and across the provinces of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa throughout this period. The events will conclude in the territory of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on November 30. Exact times and locations of the events remain unconfirmed as of Thursday, October 17.

Heightened security presence and associated traffic disruptions are expected around the protests. Clashes between protesters and security forces cannot be ruled out.

Context

In late September 2019, the Pakistan People's Party (PPP) and the religious group Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) agreed to hold parallel rallies across Pakistan, calling for the ousting of the current Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led government.
