Bangladeshi security forces reportedly shot and killed an Indian border guard and wounded another during a cross-border clash around India's Murshidabad district (West Bengal state) on Thursday, October 17. The skirmish erupted after Bangladeshi forces detained an Indian fisherman and refused to release him. An investigation into the incident is ongoing as of Thursday.
