Local media reports indicate that the Telangana State Taxi and Drivers Joint Action Committee, which represents drivers of ride-sharing services such as Uber and Ola, will join the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) in observing a state-wide transportation strike on Saturday, October 19.
Employees of the TSRTC launched an indefinite strike across Telangala on October 5. Unions representing TSRTC staff have expressed 26 demands, including pay revision, job security, and merging with the government, but talks held with state officials failed to address their concerns.
Since the beginning of the strike, only 20 percent of transportation services have been running in the capital of Hyderabad and provincial buses have also been affected.
Individuals in Telangala are advised to monitor the situation, anticipate transportation delays and cancelations, allow additional time to travel during the strike, and avoid any associated street protests as a precaution.
