Two farmers' unions have called for a nationwide protest on Tuesday, October 22, in opposition of anti-pesticide demands and free trade treaties. The unions have asked farmers to protest at each departmental prefecture from 09:00 to 12:00 (local time). An estimated forty protests have already been scheduled in as many departments in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, Bretagne, Centre, Grand-Est, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Occitanie, and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur regions.
Associated transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are to be expected in departmental prefectures. Roadblocks cannot be ruled out in the early morning hours on Tuesday.
Individuals across France are advised to monitor the situation, avoid all protests and public gatherings, anticipate transportation disruptions, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities.
