Legal sector staff hold 48-hour nationwide strike on October 22-23; associated protests possible

National Federation of Judicial Power Workers (Fetrapoj Peru) representing employees in the legal sector has called for a nationwide 48-hour strike from Tuesday, October 22, through Wednesday, October 23, to demand salary raises and the leveling of salaries across the sectors. A protest was reported at the Supreme Court of Justice in Lima on Tuesday. A similar protest is possible on Wednesday, as well as in other parts of the city and other urban centers.

Associated transportation disruptions and a heightened security presence are to be expected in the vicinity of any protest.

Individuals in Peru, and especially in Lima, are advised to avoid all protests as a precaution, monitor the situation, allow ample travel time, and obey instructions issued by the local authorities.
