Italy: Gas station operators to strike nationwide November 6-8

Italy News Alert

Gas station employees to strike nationwide on November 6-8; associate fuel disruptions possible

TIMEFRAME expected from 10/30/2019, 12:00 AM until 11/9/2019, 11:59 PM (UTC). COUNTRY/REGION Italy, Rome

Three national gas station trade associations have announced nationwide 48-hour station closures from 06:00 (local time) on Wednesday, November 6, to 06:00 on Friday, October 8. Station operators are continuing a protest against regulation requiring stations to use electronic invoicing, which began on July 1. They claim that sending daily reports to the fiscal service of their earning is unattainable for some.

A majority of fuel stations across the country are expected to participate in the strike, though some service areas will remain open. Crowded conditions and fuel shortages are possible at open stations.

Individuals in Italy are advised to monitor developments to the situation, anticipate increased wait times at fuel stations, and plan for associated transportation disruptions.
