Mandatory evacuation orders were issued on Thursday, October 31, following the sudden eruption of the Hillside Fire in San Bernardino County (California State) in the early morning hours (local time). San Bernardino County Fire responded to the fire at Highway 18 at Lower Waterman Canyon at about 01:38 as strong winds carried the flames amid extreme red flag conditions.

Evacuation orders were issued for the North Park neighborhood and mandatory evacuations were declared in areas for all homes north of 50th Street, west of Highway 18, and east of Mayfield Avenue. Highway 18 was closed to traffic. Further evacuation orders, road closures, and power outages are possible in the vicinity of the brush fire over the near term.
