Teachers and students across Italy have called a strike and are set to protest on Friday, November 8, Monday, November 11, and Tuesday, November 12. The protests are to oppose governmental budget cuts, as well as environmental issues. Friday's protests will be a concentration of students exclusively. Monday and Tuesday will primarily consist of teachers and other education staff. The teachers' strike will begin on Monday, though on Tuesday, participants will gather at Piazza di Montecitorio in Rome for a sit-in from 09:00 to 13:00 (local time).
Participants are expected to gather in main squares across urban centers on the three dates.
Associated transportation disruptions are to be expected in Rome and other urban centers across Italy. A heightened security presence is to be expected at the Montecitorio Palace.
Individuals in Italy, and Rome in particular, are advised to monitor developments, avoid all protests as a precaution, and expect transportation disruptions.
