Feminist groups have scheduled the "Marcha de Mariposas" in Santo Domingo on Sunday, November 24, to call attention to the number of reported sexual abuse and feminicides in the country. Participants will gather at the intersection of Avenida Mirador Sur and Enrique Jimenez Moya at 09:00 (local time) and will march to the Centro de los Héroes in front of the National Congress. A heightened security presence and localized transportation disruptions are likely surrounding all groups.

Context

A total of 106 feminicides have been recorded in Dominican Republic between January and October 2019.
