The French meteorology agency issued orange weather warnings (the second highest on a four-tier scale) at 10:27 (local time) on Thursday, November 14, for 11 departments in eastern France (Saône et Loire, Loire, Rhône, Ain, Isère, Drôme, Ardèche, Vaucluse, Bouche-du-Rhône, Var, and Alpes Maritimes). The agency has forecast severe snow to affect the Rhône-Alpes, while thunderstorms are expected in the Var, Rhône, and Vaucluse departments, and subversive waves on the southeastern coast. The alert will remain in effect until Friday, November 15, at 06:00 (local time).

Related transportation disruptions, hazardous driving conditions, and power outages are possible over the coming hours.
