The Portuguese meteorology agency issued red and orange weather warnings at 12:12 (local time) on Thursday, November 14, for several western coastal regions. Red alerts have been issued for Aveiro, Braga, Leiria, Viana Do Castelo, Coimbra and Porto regions, while orange alerts have been issued for Lisboa, Setùbal, Beja and Faro due to strong winds and waves. Moderate episodes of snow and ice are also expected inland. The alert is expected to remain in effect until at least Saturday, November 16.

Related transportation disruptions, hazardous driving conditions, and power outages are possible over the coming hours.


Individuals in the affected areas are advised to monitor local weather reports and prepare for transportation disruptions (including road closures).
