Security forces reportedly killed two Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) militants and arrested more than a dozen others in a raid in North Sumatra province on Saturday, November 16. According to officials, the militants were implicated in a suicide bombing attack that occurred in Medan (North Sumatra province) on Wednesday, November 13. At least six people were wounded in Wednesday's attack. JAD was designated a terrorist organization by Indonesian authorities in 2018.
Similar counterterrorism raids are to be expected in Indonesia over the near term.
